Hikvision DVR shows offline and won't connect to the App

I am trying to set up my DVR with the Hik-Connect App but the platform access page shows offline and in the App it says device offline as well. I have connected the DVR to my router with a cable and the DVR has an IP address so I don't think it is the connection.

This can be caused by your router or ISP blocking the P2P connection that is required for the Hik-connect service. If your router has parental controls try disabling them temporarily to see if this resolves the problem. Another possibility is that your ISP is applying filtering at DNS level. Under general network settings in your DVR try setting the DNS addresses manually to a public DNS like Google's by using 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as your primary and secondary DNS.
