I need to run a cat 5e cable in an underground duct with an armoured mains cable. Is it ok or should the cable be shielded?

If both the data and power cables are shielded they can be run together without issue. If either cable is un-shielded however there should be some separation.

The following can be used as a guide to the required separation although there are other factors that can affect potential interference so it's advisable to seek the advice of a qualified electrician.

Cable combination Without divider With divider
Unscreened power / Unscreened data 200mm 100mm
Unscreened power / Screened data 50mm 20mm
Screened power / Unscreened data 20mm 10mm
Screened power / Screened data 0mm 0mm
